Police Auto Auction
Buying an Affordable Car Through
the Police Auto Auction
Nowhere will you get a cheaper car than at a police auto auction. With bids that start at $100, you can drive a car home today! And, you are sure that the surplus vehicle you are driving is one that has been well-maintained and looked after.
Government agencies are required to upgrade their vehicles every few years and the Police Department follows that requirement religiously.
You actually have a choice of vehicles that you can bid on. There are numerous vehicles that are seized by the Police Department every month and these must be auctioned off to the public. After listing these vehicles, they can be sold at up to 95% off from their purchase price. A bid at a police auto auction starts at the lowest price of $100 and works up from there.
Or, you could purchase a government-owned vehicle or surplus vehicle that is around 2 or 3 years old. These are more expensive than seized vehicles, but you are sure of the quality of maintenance it has received.
You may well ask, “Where do all these cars come from?” Many of the cars have been repossessed when the previous owners defaulted on their car loans. These cars are auctioned off immediately, since storage costs would soon outweigh the sale price of the vehicle. These “repo” cars can be purchased for just a fraction of cost. The US Government, however, has to follow policy and change cars after a certain period of time. That is when they are offered at public auction.
There are several online websites that allow you to offer closed or direct bids on the item that you are interested in. Some websites ask for a membership fee to allow you to view all the auction houses where these vehicles are being sold.
This practice has been going on for a long time. But, it was not very commonly known among the general public since this is where the majority of used car dealers would get their inventory. But with the advance of communication and general information, more and more of the general public are purchasing their cars this way.
How do you get to own a new car? Usually, you must become a member of the police auto auction organization in order to bid on a car. That is because they need you to register and submit all your pertinent information in order to have access to the cars available at the moment. After the car is won in the bid, however, you are required to pay a deposit of $500 immediately and the balance of the price within 24 hours.
It's a safe and secure way to acquire a new car, and there is a 3-month warranty on all the vehicles that leave the auction site.
An important thing to remember is that the inventory changes daily. There are no reservations given on the cars so if you like a vehicle, you should bid on it immediately. Because you are dealing with a government law enforcement site, you have no fear of fraud or spyware with the bids you make.
